Weather Forecast for Saturday, May 23
A A

Heat Wave Expected Across Southern Morocco This Weekend

As temperatures soar across southern Morocco this Saturday, the national meteorological service warns of hot conditions in several regions, including Walma, the Saïs area, and the southern provinces. With fragmented thunderstorms and light rainfall forecast in the central Atlas mountains, residents are advised to take precautions against the heat.

Rising Temperatures and Unstable Conditions

The General Directorate of Meteorology predicts significant daytime temperature increases in southern areas, particularly the regions of Walma, Saïs, western plains, Souss, and the southeastern parts of the country. This heatwave will also extend to the southern provinces. Some areas, including the central Atlas and parts of the Rif mountains, are likely to experience localized unstable clouds, possibly resulting in isolated showers and scattered thunderstorms.

Morning Fog and Coastal Conditions

Along the Atlantic coast and Mediterranean shores, dense low clouds are expected to form in the morning and evening. This weather will be accompanied by instances of local fog, affecting visibility. The coastal region may also experience moderate to strong winds, particularly in Tangier, the southern provinces, and the central Atlas.

Temperature Outlook

Minimum temperatures will range from 19 to 25 degrees Celsius in northern and central regions, as well as the southeastern areas. In contrast, the remainder of the country will experience lower nighttime temperatures, between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius. By day, temperatures will continue to rise in the southern provinces while remaining stable or slightly decreasing in other regions. This fluctuation contributes to the unpredictable weather patterns characteristic of the season.

Maritime Conditions

Sea conditions along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts are expected to be relatively calm to rough. As temperatures climb and weather patterns shift, the meteorological forecasts underscore the vital importance of being prepared for the potential impacts of these conditions on daily life and local ecosystems.
