The NGO Um Al-Ghaith is advancing the second phase of its educational and artistic initiative, “Seeds and Bridges,” aimed at enhancing the quality of preschool education by integrating culture, arts, and creativity into learning processes. Situated in the underserved neighborhoods of Sidi Moumen and Sidi Bernoussi in Casablanca, this innovative project not only fosters children’s skills but also promotes equal opportunities in education.

A Vision for Holistic Education

In a recent statement, Amal Al-Qadri Barada, co-founder and president of Um Al-Ghaith, emphasized the project’s comprehensive educational vision. “Our goal is to enhance the artistic and cultural development of preschool children while improving their linguistic, motor, social, and creative skills,” she stated, adding that the initiative also focuses on strengthening educators’ professional competencies through continuous, hands-on support.

“Seeds and Bridges” employs a variety of art and educational workshops inspired by neuroscience, directly integrating these methods into its preschool curriculum. This approach allows for experiential learning that fosters creativity and interaction. The culmination of these activities is an annual performance tour showcasing the educational and expressive gains made by the children involved.

Collaborative Framework

This initiative is executed in partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works in Education and Training, which aids in the project’s various stages of implementation and structuring. Additional support comes from Morocco’s early childhood education organization, alongside contributions from various educational institutions, experts, and local actors.

The project features a phased national expansion strategy that emphasizes direct educational support for teachers, complemented by systematic monitoring and evaluation to enhance pedagogical practices. This methodology ensures the quality of educational outcomes and long-lasting results.

Furthermore, a precise evaluation system has been established to measure the project’s impact on the comprehensive development of children, both cognitively and creatively, along with their motor and social skills. This focus aims to continuously refine and improve the effectiveness of the educational model.

Expanding the Definition of Education

Um Al-Ghaith asserts that modern education should extend beyond fundamental skills and encompass various facets of psychological, social, and creative growth in children. The organization believes that arts and culture are vital in fostering self-expression and social integration.

Looking ahead, the project plans an artistic showcase for 2026, highlighting the children’s creativity through four final performances between May 20 and June 15, alongside another on May 22 at the Ibn Hashim School Theater. These events will feature participation from artists and experts across multiple disciplines, along with the educators guiding the children through the preparation stages. This collaborative experience aims to bolster self-confidence, expression, and creativity among young learners.

Conclusion

Um Al-Ghaith is a recognized Moroccan NGO dedicated to supporting and enhancing preschool education in urban areas. A certified training center by the regional education authority, the organization focuses on continuous training for teachers, family support, and collaborative education, while developing innovative educational and cultural projects for young children.
