The Moroccan capital, Rabat, is set to host a prestigious event in the world of purebred Arabian horses, with the “UAE International Arabian Horse Championship – Morocco 2026” taking place on May 9 and 10, 2026. This gathering not only celebrates the rich equestrian heritage of Morocco but also showcases the nation’s commitment to enhancing its stature in the global equine community.

A Celebration of Equestrian Heritage
The event, organized by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse, in partnership with the Emirates Arabian Horse Society and the Royal Moroccan Society of Breeders of Purebred Arabian Horses, marks the third leg of an esteemed international series. This series continues to expand its reach across continents, reinforcing the vital role of Arabian horse breeding within Morocco’s cultural and national landscapes.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Chairman of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society, this championship epitomizes a sustained commitment to promoting Arabian horse breeding and enhancing its global visibility. Following successful stops in Australia and Bahrain, the championship now brings its glitz and glamour to Morocco ahead of further international appearances.

Showcasing Local Excellence
The championship emphasizes the philosophy of highlighting horses born and bred in the host country, aligning with the Royal Society’s strategy to support small and medium-sized breeders of purebred Arabian horses. This initiative not only promotes various registered breeds but also underscores Morocco’s rich equestrian culture.

The 2026 edition is anticipated to attract nearly 200 horses and around 50 breeders. An international judging panel comprising experts from Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Oman, and Germany will evaluate the participating horses. The competition will feature six distinct championships, culminating in the recognition of over 60 horses, giving Moroccan breeders an exceptional opportunity to showcase their production quality and expertise in Arabian horse breeding.

Beyond Competition: A Cultural Festivity
Omar Saqali, Director General of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse, emphasized that hosting this international event presents a crucial opportunity for Arabian horse breeders to demonstrate their skills and enhance the global reputation of Moroccan elite horses.

However, the event is not solely focused on competition; it aims to cultivate a celebratory atmosphere open to the public. The 2026 edition will feature diverse spaces catering to visitors and families, including areas for children and food stalls. This inclusive approach promises a holistic experience for equestrian enthusiasts and those interested in the beauty and nobility of purebred Arabian horses, all within an ambiance that merges tradition, passion, and a spirit of celebration for this rich heritage.
