Rabat Gears Up for the Third Edition of Royal Nautic Pro

Rabat is set to host the third edition of the Royal Nautic Pro from June 5 to 7, 2026, at the Bouregreg Royal Nautical Club, under the esteemed patronage of King Mohammed VI. This event, an integral stop on the Waterski Pro Tour, is anticipated to draw the world’s top water skiing talent, featuring competitions in slalom and freestyle categories for both men and women, with total prize money reaching $100,000.

A Rising Star in Water Sports

The Royal Nautic Pro not only highlights Morocco’s growing significance in the international water sports arena but also celebrates the remarkable ascent of Moroccan athlete Kamil Belmrah. Recently crowned the African champion of 2026 across multiple categories, Belmrah has firmly established himself as a formidable competitor, earning the title of Best African Skier following the African Championship held in Namibia this past April. His achievements mark a significant milestone for the sport in Morocco, exemplifying a broader ambition to create a robust national foundation for future champions.

Belmrah’s journey has been nothing short of historic. In 2021, he became the first African athlete to win the slalom title in the under-17 category within both the European and African Championships. His trajectory continued to impress when he secured a bronze medal in the European and African Championships for athletes under 21 in 2023, ultimately finishing fourth in the world championship of the same age category in Calgary, Canada, in 2025. These accomplishments underscore a vital momentum for water sports in Morocco.

Setting the Stage for Competition

The 2026 edition of the Royal Nautic Pro promises an intense competitive program. Participants will compete in two qualifying rounds in slalom and freestyle events, with the top eight performers in both categories advancing to the finals scheduled for Sunday, June 7. The competition will culminate in a awards ceremony, followed by an official lunch and a celebratory dinner.

Building on the success of the 2025 edition, which featured prominent international figures in water skiing, the event welcomes participants eager to demonstrate their skills. Last year’s competition saw Freddy Winter claim victory in the men’s slalom event, with Adam Sidlemaier and Thomas Degasperi following closely behind. Meanwhile, Jamie Bull triumphed in the women’s category, ahead of Nelly Ross and Allie Nicholson. In freestyle, Patricio Font took the men’s title, while Anna Hunter led in the women’s competition.

Expanding Global Reach

The growth of Royal Nautic Pro is a testament to the event’s expanding international reach, fueled by a digital strategy that includes livestreaming and specialized video content, enhancing viewership beyond the physical boundaries of competition. This year’s event is once again supported by K-Play, continuing a journey that began in 2024 when Morocco hosted its first stop on the Waterski Pro Tour— a landmark event in both Africa and the Arab world.

As it enters its third edition, the Royal Nautic Pro reaffirms its commitment to solidifying Rabat’s status as a global destination for professional water skiing. The initiative not only highlights the Bouregreg River as a premier international sporting venue but also fosters the emergence of a new generation of Moroccan athletes poised to represent the kingdom on the largest international stages.
