French President Lauds Morocco’s Education Revolution in Nairobi

During a recent event in Nairobi, French President Emmanuel Macron praised what he called a “true revolution” in Morocco’s education sector under King Mohammed VI, highlighting the nation’s experience as a prominent model for Africa. His remarks came at the close of the forum “Africa Forward: Inspiration and Connectivity,” held ahead of the Africa Forward Summit, showcasing Morocco’s notable advancements in educational achievement.

A Model for the Continent

Macron underscored the remarkable progress achieved by Moroccan educational institutions, especially in primary, secondary, and higher education. He pointed out that Moroccan students are excelling in various prestigious higher education and technical schools, highlighting this as an exceptional example for the continent.

This acknowledgment arrives amid a strengthening relationship between Rabat and Paris, following a period of diplomatic strain. It illustrates the growing European interest in Morocco’s educational model, particularly its focus on training and bridging education with economic and industrial transformations.

Investment as the Key to the Future

In addition to discussing education, Macron stressed the need for increased investment in Africa. He argued that the continent’s future hinges on investments in youth, training, and innovation, rather than traditional aid models. This call for investment signals a strategic shift in European engagement with Africa, emphasizing the potential of African youth as a resource for economic growth and innovation.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Macron’s praise for Morocco reflects broader geopolitical trends. As European nations look to enhance cooperation with Africa, Morocco stands at the forefront, showcasing how education can be a catalyst for broader social and economic development. This recognition not only cements Morocco’s standing as a leader in the region but also fosters deeper ties with France, opening doors for collaborative initiatives in various sectors.
