Friday’s Weather Forecast: What to Expect

A A

Heat Wave Grips Morocco as Unstable Weather Looms

As temperatures soar across Morocco this Friday, the General Directorate of Meteorology warns of a hot spell particularly affecting the southeast and the extreme southern desert regions. The forecast indicates the possibility of unstable clouds over the Atlas Mountains, alongside fog formation along the Mediterranean coast and local Atlantic shores.

Current Weather Conditions

The weather today is characterized by intense heat in the southeast and southern desert regions, with relatively warmer conditions expected in the interior plains. The regions of the Atlas Mountains and southeastern areas may experience unstable weather patterns, leading to the occurrence of fog in the mornings and evenings near the Mediterranean and Atlantic shores.

Wind and Temperature Variations

Moderate to strong gusts are anticipated in the southern provinces, along with the Souss region and parts of the Atlas. Localized dust storms may also affect visibility.

Temperature readings are expected to vary significantly across the country. The minimum temperatures will range from 7 to 13 degrees Celsius in the Atlas mountains, while the southeast and desert regions can expect 21 to 28 degrees. In contrast, the remaining areas of the kingdom will see temperatures between 14 and 20 degrees.

Daily Temperature Trends

Daytime temperatures are predicted to decrease slightly in southern provinces and the northern and central interior plains but will remain stable in other areas. The Mediterranean Sea is anticipated to be calm, while conditions between the Strait of Gibraltar and beyond will be relatively serene to slightly turbulent. From Cape Spartel to Laayoune, the sea state will range from slightly rough to turbulent, particularly in southern waters, where it may become dangerously rough in certain areas.

As Morocco wrestles with rising temperatures amid these fluctuating weather conditions, the implications for agriculture, tourism, and daily life remain significant, urging residents and visitors to stay informed and prepared.
