The National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) announced that the recent Eid al-Adha celebrations proceeded smoothly nationwide, attributed to its comprehensive health monitoring program. Effective collaboration among local authorities, consumer protection organizations, and veterinary professionals ensured adherence to health standards for livestock and meat during the festival.
A Successful Health Monitoring Initiative
ONSSA’s commitment to public health was evident as it mobilized around 500 veterinary doctors and technicians on duty throughout the Eid festivities. This dedicated approach allowed for rapid interventions and responses to health monitoring requests amid increased demand during the holiday.
A key part of this initiative involved inspecting over 3,750 sacrificial animals across various regions. Additionally, veterinary teams conducted on-site visits to approximately 350 households, providing essential inspections and health-related guidance for meat safety.
Responsive Engagement with the Public
During the celebration period, ONSSA received over 2,000 inquiries via phone and social media platforms. The organization actively engaged with citizens, addressing questions and concerns in real-time. This responsiveness complemented ongoing inspections at approved slaughterhouses and butcher shops, ensuring that meat products met established health standards.

In its concluding remarks, ONSSA emphasized its commitment to maintaining a close relationship with the community, fostering ongoing dialogue through its various services. This approach not only enhances food safety but also builds consumer confidence in the products they purchase, thereby reinforcing the integrity of the food supply chain.
