In an ambitious move to enhance the integrity of national examinations, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Mohammed Saad Berada, announced innovative technological measures aimed at combating cheating during the 2026 Bac exams. With around 520,000 candidates expected, the ministry is prioritizing fairness and credibility in the educational system.

Revolutionizing Exam Integrity

The Moroccan Ministry of National Education is set to implement unprecedented technical measures to combat cheating in the upcoming Bac exams. During a recent session in the House of Representatives, Minister Berada emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates, highlighting the significant steps being taken to bolster the credibility of national examinations.

Scaling Up for a Record Number of Candidates

This year’s exams will be administered across 2,007 educational institutions, accommodating approximately 520,000 candidates, including 100,000 free applicants. The sheer scale of this endeavor necessitates a strong push towards digitization and cutting-edge solutions to prevent errors and breaches of exam protocols. The ministry’s focus on modernizing processes reflects an understanding of the challenges posed by such large numbers.

Tackling Evolving Cheating Tactics

Addressing the increasingly sophisticated landscape of cheating, Minister Berada revealed that the ministry has acquired around 2,000 advanced electronic devices designed to detect phones and other cheating gadgets within exam centers. These devices are capable of identifying any active mobile phone as soon as an individual approaches the classroom door, allowing for immediate intervention. This proactive approach represents a significant shift in how examinations are monitored and enforced.

Commitment to Educational Integrity

The government’s strategy aims not only to ensure a more transparent examination process but also to safeguard the value of the national diploma. By investing in these advanced technologies, the Ministry of National Education is making a firm commitment to uphold merit-based educational standards, reinforcing trust in the examination system as a fair assessment of student capabilities.
