Clinical psychologist and head of “Jonas Morocco,” Amel Achhab, stressed that the success of inclusive education is closely tied to a precise understanding of children’s needs, whether their disabilities are visible or not. Achhab pointed out that inclusive education should focus on three core elements: guidance and human support, adapting the educational environment to meet learners’ specific needs, and creating educational pathways that account for students’ neurological and cognitive differences.

The conference also called for the adoption of more flexible teaching methodologies that cater to each student’s unique requirements, moving beyond traditional approaches. Educational inspector Houria Mezouzi argued that evaluating inclusive education should encompass not just the number of integrated students but also the quality of learning and the effectiveness of pedagogical adaptations within educational institutions. She emphasized the importance of enhancing teacher training and establishing effective inclusive classrooms, alongside modifying assessment methods to consider the unique characteristics of learners with disabilities.
Building Momentum from Early Education
Touarea Mabrouk, president of the “Hope” Association for Children with Disabilities and a member of the High Council, advocated for strengthening educational efforts from early childhood, improving coordination among different stakeholders, and intensifying awareness campaigns about the significance of inclusive education. The roundtable also featured poignant testimonials from mothers of children with disabilities and students with autism spectrum disorders, who shared their journeys of academic success despite facing numerous challenges.
