Health Minister: Investing in the Health Sector is a Strategic Choice That Cannot Be Postponed
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Tehrawi, stated that the cost of “not investing” in the health sector far exceeds the cost of financing it. He emphasized that the delay in developing the health system results in greater economic and social burdens in the medium and long term.
This statement comes amidst a national discussion on reforming the health system, where the minister stressed that investment in health is no longer a secondary option; it has become a vital lever for achieving sustainable development through improving service quality, enhancing access, and increasing the efficiency of the health system.
The government official explained that inadequate investment in this sector leads to rising treatment costs, increased pressure on health facilities, and widening regional disparities in access to services. This makes a proactive approach more effective than delayed remedial interventions.
