More than 1.5 million tourists enhance the appeal of Agadir and Taghazout in 2025
Agadir and Taghazout recorded a remarkable tourism performance in 2025, welcoming over 1.5 million tourists, marking a 9% increase compared to 2024.
Data presented during the board meeting of the regional tourism development company of Souss-Massa indicated that the number of tourist nights exceeded 6.3 million, with an increase of 7.65%, while the occupancy rate of classified accommodation facilities surpassed 66%.
In this context, the governor of Souss-Massa, Saïd Amzazi, highlighted the positive dynamics within the tourism sector both nationally and regionally, praising the commitment of various stakeholders to successfully host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, with Agadir being one of the host cities.
The governor emphasized the importance of implementing integrated territorial development programs to enhance tourist areas and valorize their potential, contributing to job creation in line with the royal directives of King Mohammed VI.
Regarding projects, the company continued to execute several tourism development initiatives, including the enhancement of sites and tourist routes such as the Ait Baha Kasbah, Imouzzer center, Asif Had cave, and Assakaouen Park, in addition to developing the Taghazout Corniche and tourism investment projects in Anza and Imessouane.
Efforts have also been made to develop light environmental tourism between Taghazout and Imessouane, in addition to equipping tourist information centers in Tiznit and Tata, and continuing programs to upgrade accommodation facilities in both urban and rural areas.
Tourist sites managed by the company recorded increasing visitor numbers, with a daily average of 532 visitors at “La Medina Agadir,” 255 visitors at “Agadir Oufella Kasbah,” and 185 visitors at information centers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the achievements for 2025 were approved, alongside the work plan and preliminary budget for 2026, expanding the company’s responsibilities to enhance its role in the development and management of tourism in the region.
