Two Turkish police officers were injured today, Tuesday, following an exchange of gunfire outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, while two of the three attackers were killed, according to Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).

The two armed assailants were killed, while the third sustained serious injuries, as reported by state media.

A source familiar with the investigation told Agence France-Presse that “there are currently no Israeli diplomats on Turkish soil.”

Turkish media reported that the three suspects were armed with rifles, moving in camouflage clothing and carrying backpacks.

NTV aired images of a heavy security presence around the consulate, which is located in the Levent business district of Istanbul.
