Lead
In a recent session at the House of Councillors, majority parties rallied behind the government’s track record, asserting it exemplifies “political maturity” and “national responsibility.” They defended the government’s resilience amid geopolitical, climatic, and economic challenges, emphasizing a commitment to ongoing major projects.

Performance Amidst Challenges
During the discussions, majority representatives highlighted that the government’s performance has demonstrated perseverance and a unified approach to legislative action. They dismissed what they characterized as “populist” rhetoric from the opposition, emphasizing the cohesive efforts within the government framework.

Mohamed Bakkouri, leader of the National Rally of Independents, articulated that the current moment is not merely an evaluation of government performance, but a significant political juncture reflecting a collaborative experience between the government and parliament. He noted that the government has successfully managed to continue implementing significant initiatives, including the expansion of social protection, investment support, and job creation, despite the extraordinary circumstances.

Commitment to Reform
Bakkouri also underscored the government’s choice to proceed “steadfastly,” steering clear of distracting political disputes. He attributed this focus to the accelerated progress on various reform projects, enhanced by solid community engagement in public policies.

In a similar vein, Fatima Saadi of the Authenticity and Modernity Party remarked that the government’s achievements are backed by data indicating progress across multiple sectors. She pointed out that Morocco has emerged as an investment destination and has made strides in addressing the challenges of water scarcity while expanding social protection through direct support for vulnerable populations and systemic reforms in social services.

Turning Challenges into Opportunities
Abdelkader Al-Kihal from the Independence Party praised the government’s “effective crisis management,” revealing that it has adeptly transformed some challenges into opportunities. This approach facilitated the reordering of priorities and the continuation of structural reforms to enhance Morocco’s economic attractiveness.

He acknowledged significant advances in the social protection initiative but indicated that further development is necessary to ensure equitable access and quality of services, meeting citizens’ expectations in education and healthcare.

A Unified Legislative Front
The majority coalition concluded that their assessment reflects a period of government continuity and reform, contrasting it with what they termed ineffective political discourse that detracts from meaningful public discussion.
