Attijariwafa Bank Warns Customers of Digital Fraud Campaigns Impersonating Its Identity

Attijariwafa Bank has issued an urgent warning to the public and its customers following an increase in misleading content spreading through social media and messaging applications recently. The bank explained that these contents contain false information, exploiting the bank’s name, image, and the identities of its officials in a fraudulent manner.

The Moroccan banking group reported that these contents aim to promote false claims, particularly concerning alleged investment opportunities designed to lure and mislead users. It emphasized that any unauthorized use of the group’s trademarks or the identities of its officials constitutes a direct assault on the institution’s reputation.

The group categorically denied any association with these posts, affirming that it does not offer any investment platform or initiative of this kind. It clarified that the bank’s communication occurs exclusively through its official channels and that its CEO does not have any social media accounts, making any use of his name or image on these platforms an act of impersonation.

Attijariwafa Bank urged its customers and the public to remain vigilant and cautious by verifying the source of information and relying only on the bank’s official channels and those of its subsidiaries. It stressed the importance of not providing any personal or banking information to untrustworthy parties. Additionally, it advised contacting the customer relations center at +212 5 22 58 88 88 or visiting a bank branch in case of any doubts or suspicions.

The bank concluded its warning by stating that it reserves all rights to take necessary legal action to protect its reputation, the image of its CEO, and its rights against all attempts at deception and fraud.
