With a budget of 32 million dirhams, El Saadi accelerates the development of the traditional crafts complex in Agadir.

El Saadi has signed the fourth amendment to the partnership agreement for the rehabilitation of the traditional crafts complex in Agadir, aiming to update the terms of the original agreement and expedite the implementation of this structured project for the benefit of artisans, reflecting a response to the demands of professionals in the sector.

The amendment aims to enhance the infrastructure of traditional crafts and provide suitable working and production spaces. The total cost of the project has risen to around 32.6 million dirhams after adding a financial allocation of 15 million dirhams to cover construction works, technical and engineering studies, and oversight.

The amendment also includes the addition of the Dar Al-San’a Foundation as a new partner in the project, alongside the Ministry responsible for traditional crafts and social and solidarity economy, the Souss-Massa region, the regional council, the Agadir municipality, and the regional chamber of traditional crafts. This aims to strengthen institutional coordination and ensure better oversight of project implementation.

The rehabilitation project extends over an area of approximately 7,241 square meters and includes the creation of an integrated professional space for artisans, featuring new workshops and craft shops, the construction of a specialized institute for traditional arts, in addition to the renovation of the complex’s facilities, improving its façade, and the external structures associated with it.

The project targets various traditional crafts that are part of Moroccan artisanal identity, such as wood carving, traditional weaving, artistic carpentry, embroidery, artistic blacksmithing, leatherwork, zellij tile work, pottery, and ceramics, along with other productive crafts. This contributes to enhancing the status of traditional crafts as a driver for local development and improving the working conditions of artisans.
