The government provides financial assistance of up to 140,000 dirhams to families affected by the floods.

On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the government announced a financial support package of 6,000 dirhams for each of the 15,000 families impacted by the floods that devastated several areas in Morocco, as part of its program to support and assist those affected.

The Minister Delegate in charge of Budget, Fawzi Lekjaa, stated during a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting that evacuation operations included approximately 188,000 people, equivalent to 50,000 families, from areas where the floods posed a danger to residents. He emphasized that royal instructions always prioritize the preservation of human life and safety.

Lekjaa confirmed that the aid provided to displaced families amounts to 6,000 dirhams per family, while an additional support of 15,000 dirhams has been allocated for families returning to their homes to repair the damage incurred. Furthermore, the government has earmarked 140,000 dirhams for families whose homes have completely collapsed, especially in rural areas, to assist them in rebuilding, noting that authorities have begun assessing the extent of the damage.

The minister added that infrastructure affected by the floods is undergoing urgent rehabilitation and restructuring to ensure a return to normalcy for citizens. He also mentioned that support extends to affected farmers to help them resume their agricultural or livestock activities during this spring period.

Lekjaa pointed out that a financial allocation has been set aside for the rapid recovery of damaged hydraulic infrastructures to ensure waterways return to their natural courses and to support economic activities adversely affected by the floods.

This government intervention is part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters and protect families and communities most affected by floods.
