Casablanca is set to host the first edition of the “GITEX Future Health in Africa” exhibition from May 4 to May 6, 2026, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, and “CON International”.
The organization of this international event aligns with the profound transformation currently underway in Morocco’s national health system and reflects the country’s ongoing commitment to establishing the foundations of health sovereignty in Africa. The exhibition aims to address the structural challenges facing African health systems by bringing together policymakers, technology leaders, and investors, with the goal of creating shared visions for building more robust and equitable health systems while enhancing technological sovereignty in the health sector.
Prominent figures, including African health ministers, high-ranking government officials, representatives from international institutions, and experts in various scientific fields, are expected to participate in this event. This diverse attendance aims to accelerate strategic dialogue, strengthen international cooperation, and stimulate investment in innovative solutions tailored to Africa’s unique realities.
Over three days, Casablanca will transform into a key scientific and technological hub, hosting high-level scientific conferences and specialized workshops, alongside a vast space for exhibitions and innovation. Discussions will cover several pivotal issues, including artificial intelligence in healthcare, telemedicine, healthcare information systems, data interoperability, and cybersecurity, as well as the formulation of medical AI applications and the funding and scaling of digital health projects.
The exhibition is anticipated to feature participation from over 300 national and international exhibitors, along with 200 startups and notable Moroccan presence, in addition to around 100 international investors. This highlights the growing dynamism within the digital health sector at both the continental and global levels.
In this context, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ameen al-Tahrawi, emphasized that Morocco has chosen to make digitization, data, and artificial intelligence foundational pillars for a qualitative transformation of its health system, based on the visionary guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He noted that technology serves as a strategic lever to enhance the quality of health services, optimize resource allocation, and promote regional equity, pointing out that the “GITEX Future Health in Africa” exhibition embodies Morocco’s role as a driving force for building an innovative and sovereign African digital health ecosystem.
For his part, the Director General of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, Professor Younes Bougigo, highlighted the importance of building an integrated system to tackle the challenges of the current phase. He stressed that addressing the needs of a rapidly growing African population requires not only infrastructure development but also enhancing training, scientific research, and innovation, as well as ensuring equitable access to health services. He added that the “GITEX Future Health in Africa” exhibition represents a platform for the intersection of scientific knowledge, advanced technologies, and public policies, contributing to the rapid implementation of sustainable solutions for the continent’s people.
This initiative also enjoys support from international partners. Trixie Louhilmund, Executive Vice President of the Dubai World Trade Centre and CEO of “CON International,” confirmed that launching the exhibition in Morocco marks a strategic milestone in the development of African health systems towards more integrated and technologically advanced models. She indicated that this platform aims to foster cross-border partnerships and accelerate innovation to support the sustainable improvement of healthcare systems and outcomes across various countries on the continent.
