By invitation from Melania Trump, Princess Lalla Hasnaa represents Morocco at a global summit in Washington to enhance digital protection for children.

Today, Wednesday, in the U.S. capital Washington, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa represented the Kingdom of Morocco at the Global Alliance for Children summit, “Together We Build the Future,” hosted at the White House on the invitation of the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.

This international event brings together leaders, decision-makers, and experts from around the world to discuss ways to enhance the welfare of children amidst the rapid changes of the digital age, particularly with the growing role of artificial intelligence and modern technology in daily life.

During the opening session, Melania Trump emphasized that the alliance aims to empower children with the tools for learning and knowledge through technology, urging the adoption of practical approaches, including expanding international partnerships, encouraging the private sector, and developing legislative frameworks that protect young people, alongside ensuring equitable access to digital resources.

For her part, Princess Lalla Hasnaa stated in her address on behalf of Morocco that the challenges linked to preparing new generations for the digital era are no longer merely a national issue but a collective responsibility that requires coordinated international efforts. She highlighted that the digital divide could widen further if collective action is not taken to enable all children to benefit from technological advancements.

She also stressed that technology should be harnessed as a tool to promote equality and equal opportunities, rather than as a factor that exacerbates social disparities. In this context, she reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to developing and enhancing digital protection mechanisms, alongside continuing efforts in literacy programs and digital inclusion.

The Princess announced Morocco’s readiness to share its expertise and best practices with partnering African countries to support collective efforts in the area of child protection in the digital space and to enhance international cooperation in this domain.

The summit, which saw participation from representatives of nearly forty countries and major American technology companies, featured interventions from several international figures, including Brigitte Macron and Sheikha Alia bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, alongside political figures and experts from Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

On the sidelines of the summit, commemorative photos were taken with Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Melania Trump, and several heads of participating delegations, before Her Royal Highness attended an official reception at the White House in honor of the guests.

This summit serves as an international platform to launch practical commitments and broaden cooperation between countries and institutions to build a secure digital environment that supports children’s growth worldwide.
