A U.S. Delegation Visits Marrakech, Opening New Horizons for Cultural Cooperation and Strategic Partnerships
The Marrakech Municipality welcomed a U.S. delegation representing Scottsdale, Arizona, on Thursday, March 26, 2026. This visit is part of efforts to expand international cooperation and enhance cultural exchange between the two cities.
The meeting, held at the municipality’s headquarters, featured Khadija Bouharrachi, the fifth deputy of the city council president, standing in for Fatima Zahra Mansouri. The American delegation included members of the Scottsdale-Marrakech Sister Cities Association, led by Kathy George, the head of the delegation, and former Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega.
Discussions focused on ways to develop cooperation between the two sides, particularly in cultural and civic areas. They also covered exchanging experiences in local governance and strengthening relationships among institutional stakeholders.
Bouharrachi emphasized that Marrakech continues to embrace international partnerships, stating that such visits enhance the city’s global presence and open up new avenues for decentralized cooperation. She praised the role of the Scottsdale-Marrakech Association in strengthening friendship ties between the two parties, stressing the municipality’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at advancing and enhancing this relationship.
In turn, members of the American delegation expressed their interest in expanding cooperation with Marrakech, further enriching cultural exchange and solidifying connections between Morocco and the United States.
