Tantan Registers Record High in Fishing Quantities, Up 65% for 2025
The port of Tantan has reported a significant increase in the quantities of coastal and traditional fishing products, rising by 65% in 2025, according to data from the National Fisheries Office. The total discharged quantities reached 93,063 tons, compared to a value of 777.9 million dirhams in 2024, rising to approximately 1.04 billion dirhams, an increase of 34%.
The data also indicated that the quantities of pelagic fish increased by 86%, amounting to 73,672 tons, achieving a value of 311.2 million dirhams, up by 92%. Additionally, white fish quantities rose by 20% to 13,172 tons, with their financial value increasing by 28% to reach 307.8 million dirhams, compared to 2024 (10,962 tons / 240.3 million dirhams).
Regarding mollusks, the discharged quantities increased by 7%, totaling 6,033 tons, with a financial value of 413.5 million dirhams, reflecting a 13% rise. Meanwhile, crustacean quantities saw a decrease of 2%, reaching 187 tons valued at 13.2 million dirhams.
At the national level, the quantities of discharged coastal and traditional fishing products reached 1,132,801 tons in 2025, marking a 15% decrease compared to 2024, while their total value declined by 4% to 10.11 billion dirhams.
