Major Investments and Strategic Projects Enhance the Energy Sector Transformation in Morocco by 2026

The energy sector in Morocco is set to experience rapid dynamism in 2026, driven by the launch of significant investments and strategic projects aimed at strengthening energy security, accelerating the transition to renewable energies, and reducing reliance on fossil fuel sources.

These projects align with the country’s major objectives of increasing the share of clean energies in the national energy mix by developing solar and wind power plants, alongside supporting electrical storage projects and enhancing national grid efficiency.

In this context, the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water continues to implement investment programs to strengthen electrical infrastructure and connect renewable energy projects to the grid, meeting the growing electricity demand.

Additionally, the Moroccan agency for sustainable energy (Masen) continues to develop major solar energy projects, notably expanding solar facilities and enhancing their production capacities, under a strategy that aims to establish Morocco as a regional hub for clean energy.

Ongoing endeavors also include electrical interconnection projects with international partners and the development of green hydrogen solutions, which are anticipated to provide new avenues for investment and energy exports in the coming years.

Moreover, 2026 will see an acceleration in the completion of projects related to natural gas infrastructure, with a view to diversifying supply sources and enhancing the resilience of the national energy system.

This dynamism reflects a strategic approach towards building a sustainable and competitive energy ecosystem capable of supporting economic growth and attracting investments while reducing carbon footprints and reinforcing the country’s commitments to combating climate change.
