Sales of cement increased by more than 18% by the end of January 2025

The Ministry of National Planning, Urban Planning, Housing, and City Policy reported that cement sales reached over 1.04 million tons by the end of January 2025, marking an increase of 18.77% compared to the same period last year.

The ministry, in its monthly report on cement sales trends by category, clarified that distribution sales accounted for the largest share, exceeding 533,870 tons, followed by sales of ready-mix concrete (BPE) at over 374,256 tons.

The same source indicated that sales of precast concrete (PREFA) surpassed 119,500 tons, while infrastructure sector sales stood at approximately 76,023 tons, compared to 35,080 tons directed towards construction and 5,565 tons for mortar.

The report noted that these statistics were compiled based on internal data from members of the Professional Association of Cement Companies, which includes Ciment Tamara, Ciment de l’Atlas, Ciment du Maroc, LafargeHolcim Morocco, as well as Novacem, which joined the association starting January 2024.

This growth in cement sales reflects the momentum within the construction and public works sector, during a period of relative recovery in construction activity and increasing demand for building materials at the start of this year.
