Aziz Akhannouch, the president of the National Rally of Independents, emphasized that the political struggle pursued by his party has never been directed against specific opponents or movements. Instead, it primarily targets the manifestations of poverty, vulnerability, and exclusion that affect a large segment of Moroccans.
In a speech delivered on Saturday, February 7, 2026, during a party gathering in El Jadida, Akhannouch presented his vision of political work as an ethical commitment rather than a mere electoral competition. He argued that politics loses its essence when it detaches from the daily concerns of citizens and from the actual defense of their dignity.
He explained that the National Rally of Independents has chosen to engage in grassroots work and to listen directly to the people. He recalled the initiatives launched by the party, such as “Trust Path” and “Cities Path,” which he said have allowed for the identification of Moroccans’ expectations in vital areas like health, education, and job opportunities, translating them into executable programs.
Akhannouch affirmed that building a social state is a cornerstone of this approach, pointing out that the expansion of health coverage and the establishment of direct social support mechanisms provide practical answers to the problems of poverty and marginalization, rather than mere political slogans.
He concluded his remarks by reaffirming that the National Rally of Independents will continue on this reform path, which places people at the center of public policies, making dignity and social justice fundamental criteria for any serious political endeavor.
