Trump Calls UK’s Handing Over of Chagos Islands to Mauritius ‘Major Blunder’

On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump accused the United Kingdom of making a “grave mistake” after it signed an agreement in 2024 to transfer the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean to Mauritius.

In a post on his platform, Truth Social, Trump stated that the UK’s abandonment of these “critical” territories was a “major blunder.” He asserted that this move is part of a series of decisions that jeopardize national security and justifies, as he put it, the need to acquire Greenland.
