The Rabat Court of First Instance has sentenced an Algerian supporter to three months in prison along with a fine of 500 dirhams for offensive behavior in the stands.
The court found the defendant guilty of public indecency and making indecent remarks towards individuals or groups during sports events. These actions sparked widespread condemnation, especially given the emphasis on maintaining respect and sportsmanship during sporting events.
This ruling comes as part of the judicial authorities’ effort to tackle behaviors that undermine public morals or tarnish the image of sports competitions, regardless of the nationality or status of the perpetrators.
