The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, through the administration of the local prison in Kenitra, has denied claims circulating on Facebook regarding what was described as the “suffering of inmates” within the correctional facility, emphasizing that such allegations do not reflect reality.

The prison administration stated in a clarifying statement directed at the public that the concerns raised about “the spread of itch disease and lack of hygiene and healthcare conditions” are unfounded, underscoring that inmates showing any health symptoms are promptly attended to, with necessary medications and warm water for bathing provided. The statement also highlighted that cleaning operations are conducted daily, and hygiene materials are regularly distributed to all inmates, including newcomers.

Regarding the claims related to long wait times and mistreatment during family visits, the administration confirmed that these allegations are false, explaining that visits are organized through an approved “visitation platform.”

The statement further noted that some visit denials are attributed to certain visitors not adhering to the designated schedules via the platform or insisting on visiting outside the scheduled times, prompting the administration to enforce applicable legal regulations.

In conclusion, the Kenitra local prison administration reiterated its commitment to respecting the rights of inmates and ensuring housing conditions that align with existing laws and regulations, while also committing to communicate with the public to correct any misinformation that may arise.
