Spanish club Rayo Vallecano announced on Wednesday that they have signed Moroccan international Elyas Achoumatch on loan from Villarreal until the end of the current season.
This move comes as the player aims to gain more playing time and further his development in La Liga.
The 21-year-old Achoumatch joins Rayo Vallecano after a challenging season with Villarreal, where he struggled to establish himself in the starting lineup. This led to an agreement between the club and the player for a loan to ensure regular playing opportunities.
Before finalizing the loan, Villarreal extended Achoumatch’s contract until 2028, reflecting the club’s confidence in his potential and their desire to secure his future rights. The player is expected to undergo medical examinations in Madrid before officially signing with the team until the end of June.
Achoumatch is a graduate of the famous La Masia academy at FC Barcelona and moved to Villarreal in the summer of 2023 in search of a new challenge after a relatively positive first season. With his transfer to Rayo Vallecano, he aims to increase his appearances and regain his form while continuing to be part of the Moroccan national team under coach Walid Regragui.
Achoumatch’s joining is expected to be a significant boost for Rayo Vallecano, as the team hopes to leverage his skills to strengthen their midfield and achieve positive results in the second half of the season.
