Sofiane Amrabat undergoes successful surgery in Amsterdam for ankle injury

Moroccan international Sofiane Amrabat, a player for Real Betis, has successfully undergone surgery on his right ankle in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, as announced by the Spanish club.

Sources indicate that the surgery was performed under the supervision of Dr. Gino Kerkhofs and was attended by the medical team of Real Betis. The operation aimed to treat an injury that has affected the player’s fitness over the past few weeks, following the failure of non-surgical treatments to alleviate the ankle pain and improve mobility.

After the surgery, Amrabat will spend an initial period of recovery in Amsterdam before moving to Seville to continue his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the Spanish club’s medical team.

It is worth noting that Amrabat participated with the Moroccan national team in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 12, 2026, despite continuing to suffer from the ankle injury that impacted his performance in some matches.

According to estimates from Spanish media, the player is expected to be sidelined for a period ranging between 4 to 6 weeks, which may affect his participation in upcoming competitions with Real Betis.
