Arraki: The Clash with Cameroon is Strong and Open to All Possibilities

Rabat – The head coach of the Moroccan national football team, Walid Arraki, affirmed that the match between the “Atlas Lions” and their Cameroonian counterparts on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, for the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025,” will be a strong and balanced encounter between two of the continent’s top teams.

During a press conference held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Rabat, attended by player Hamza Ighmoun, Arraki noted that the technical staff focused on correcting some mistakes that emerged during the match against Tanzania, particularly in the first half and in midfield. He emphasized that these points have been worked on to present a better performance against the Cameroonian team.

The national coach pointed out that the history of encounters between Morocco and Cameroon always reflects the difficulty of these matches, highlighting that the “Indomitable Lions” have previously been a significant challenge for the Moroccan team. However, the current circumstances are different, given the good level demonstrated by the national team, making the match open to all possibilities.

Arraki added that the Cameroonian team boasts an excellent coach and experienced players with significant continental experience, which, according to him, necessitates the utmost focus and tactical discipline throughout the game.

Regarding pressure, the “Atlas Lions” coach considered it a naturally present element in such occasions, but noted that it is positive pressure that can be harnessed. He also praised the strong support from the Moroccan fans, which has been decisive in the previous two matches.

Arraki confirmed that the teams qualified for this stage possess high-caliber players, some of whom have previously won the African Ballon d’Or, stressing that competing in the tournament on home soil, alongside fan support, remains a crucial factor that should be optimally utilized.

The national coach concluded by emphasizing the difficulty of the upcoming match while expressing confidence in the readiness of the “Atlas Lions” to secure a spot in the semi-finals. He stated that this match will be about details and elimination, with the clear goal of progressing further in this continental tournament.
