Framework Agreement in Rabat for the Reorganization of Seasonal Employment and the Promotion of the Labor Market in the Agricultural Sector

Framework Agreement in Rabat for the Reorganization of Seasonal Employment and the Promotion of the Labor Market in the Agricultural Sector
A A

In a move reflecting a practical approach to reorganizing the labor market in the agricultural sector, a framework agreement was signed today in Rabat aimed at promoting employment and employability in agriculture, with a particular focus on seasonal labor challenges and the structural issues that accompany it.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed Bouaouri, the Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment and Skills, Younes Skouri, the Director General of the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills, Abdullah Chouaikh, and the President of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rachid Benali.

The agreement seeks to create a qualitative shift in managing seasonal agricultural employment by moving away from temporary fixes and toward a proactive and organized approach, emphasizing pre-planning workforce needs, structuring employment processes, and improving mechanisms to connect employers with job seekers in a clear and transparent framework.

Furthermore, the agreement prioritizes structured and decent employment by securing professional pathways associated with seasonal work and improving access conditions to jobs, especially in rural areas, contributing to reducing social vulnerability and enhancing professional stability.

The signatories hope the territorial and social dimensions of this agreement will positively impact the attractiveness of agricultural professions, support the economic dynamics in rural areas, and enhance the sustainability of employment in a sector that is considered a cornerstone of the national economy.

It is expected that the implementation of this agreement will be monitored through a joint mechanism involving all signatory parties, ensuring the effective achievement of the outlined objectives and maximizing its impact on employment and agricultural and territorial development.
