Tiflet Hosts the Annual Evaluative Meeting of Prison Directors

The National Institute for Training of Professionals in Tiflet hosted the annual evaluative meeting of prison directors on Friday, December 19, 2025. The event was attended by the Secretary-General of the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, along with several central officials.

This gathering was dedicated to evaluating the achievements made in various areas of prison management, as well as assessing the implementation of measures related to the new legal and regulatory changes in the sector, especially following the activation of the alternative sanctions law and the new criminal procedure law, which impose new roles and functions on prison institutions.

Participants discussed various issues and challenges that continue to hinder the optimal implementation of the ongoing reform initiatives. They also explored ways to enable prison institutions to effectively fulfill their new roles in a context marked by significant legislative and organizational transformations.

The meeting also served as a direct communication platform between prison directors and central officials, providing an opportunity to exchange views and experiences on improving the performance of these institutions, enhancing managerial governance, standardizing professional practices, and anticipating the prospects for developing prison operations in line with ongoing legal and regulatory reforms.

The meeting concluded with a series of directives and recommendations urging intensified efforts to enhance professional performance and emphasizing the necessity for all sector components to engage in the implementation of the work programs and procedures scheduled for 2026, aligning with the goals of reform and reintegration.
