Three Teams Eliminate Themselves from Competition After the End of the Second Round of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025

The second round of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, held in Morocco, has concluded, revealing some of the first outlines of the qualified and eliminated teams. Three teams have officially secured their spots in the Round of 16, while three others exited early, losing all chances of qualification.

With the end of this second round, the competition is wide open. Eighteen teams will enter the third and final round of the group stage, vying for the remaining thirteen spots to reach the knockout stages in what is described as a decisive round that allows for very few mistakes. Meanwhile, three teams have officially exited the tournament in the second round due to negative results leading to their early elimination: Botswana, which finished last in Group D, Equatorial Guinea, which came last in Group E, and Gabon, which ended in last place in Group F.

Eyes will turn in the coming days to the concluding round, which is expected to feature strong matchups and complex calculations in a tournament that has made it clear from the start that surprises will be its main theme.
