Health Minister Inaugurates Fkih Ben Salah Hospital and Launches Services for 14 Healthcare Institutions in Beni Mellal-Khenifra Region

On Thursday, December 25, 2025, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Tehrawi, officially inaugurated the services of the regional hospital in Fkih Ben Salah. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare provision in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region and to bring medical services closer to the population.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of the region, Mohamed Benradback, and the Governor of Fkih Ben Salah, Mohamed Qarnashi, along with a number of local officials and elected representatives.

On the same occasion, the Minister, alongside the Governor of Azilal, Hassan Zeitouni, launched services at the rural health center of the second level, “Ait Atab,” in addition to 13 urban and rural health centers in the Azilal province, some of which are operated remotely. This expansion is part of efforts to broaden the network of primary healthcare institutions and improve access to health services.

The opening of these healthcare facilities aligns with the royal directives aimed at reforming and upgrading the national healthcare system, as part of the government program to rebuild, rehabilitate, and equip 1,400 health centers across various provinces of the kingdom.

The regional hospital in Fkih Ben Salah spans over 3 hectares, with more than 13,000 square meters covered, and has an overall budget of 553 million dirhams. This project is designed to improve healthcare services and make them more accessible to the population of the province and nearby areas, as well as enhance healthcare indicators in the region.

The hospital has a capacity of 250 beds and features a comprehensive structure that includes an emergency department, consultation rooms, an intensive care unit, a maternity ward, day medicine, and additional facilities for radiology and laboratories, alongside administrative and healthcare services that meet established medical standards.

To strengthen emergency response, a fully equipped ambulance was delivered to the hospital, supported by the National Initiative for Human Development, aimed at bolstering the emergency health transport system in the province.

To ensure the smooth operation of services, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has mobilized 277 healthcare professionals, including 45 doctors—41 of whom are specialists—180 nurses and health technicians, and 51 administrative and technical staff. The hospital will serve approximately 475,000 residents, offering general and specialized medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and neonatal care, dentistry, general surgery, as well as radiology and laboratory services, hospitalization, and functional rehabilitation.

In Azilal province, the launch of services included the activation of several health centers, such as the rural health center of the second level “Ait Atab,” the rural health center with emergency services “Ouzighat,” along with centers “Ta Bruscht” and “Ait Tamlell.” Additionally, three first-level rural health centers were activated in “Skot,” “Trist (Beni Hasan),” and “Ait Mazigh.”

The healthcare offer was further enhanced with the introduction of five rural dispensaries, namely “Ifrane,” “Akmir,” “Ait Tikla,” “Ait Ismail,” and “Draâ,” in addition to the first-level urban health center “Demnat Isran,” a center for the diagnosis of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, and another first-level urban health center “New Neighborhood.”

These institutions will provide services to over 120,000 individuals, as part of the new generation of primary healthcare facilities, aiming to improve access to treatment, enhance services, and improve reception and guidance conditions, responding to the increasing demand for healthcare in the province.

These centers have been equipped with modern biomedical equipment, with 85 healthcare professionals mobilized to provide a diverse range of treatments including general medical check-ups, nursing care, chronic disease monitoring—particularly diabetes and hypertension—maternal and child health tracking, school health, health awareness, epidemiological vigilance, and mobile health services.

These new healthcare projects reflect significant progress in enhancing health and spatial equity, reinforcing the right to access treatment for the residents of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, while supporting the ongoing reform of the national healthcare system.
