The local prison Al Arjat 1 has denied claims regarding inmate (M.Z.) going on a hunger strike and confirmed that he is enjoying his full rights.

On Wednesday, the prison issued a clarifying statement in response to some online sites and a statement attributed to the family of inmate (M.Z.) regarding the deterioration of his health due to a hunger strike.

The statement clarified that the prison management had previously provided explanations on November 24 regarding similar allegations, reaffirming that the inmate is not on a hunger strike, receives his meals regularly, and purchases food items from the prison shop without interruption. The statement quoted the inmate himself, stating he has never expressed his intention to go on a hunger strike, considering it “throwing oneself into danger” and contradictory to his religious beliefs.

The source highlighted that the continued promotion of “false and malicious claims” about the inmate’s health by his family, along with other parties, aims to mislead public opinion and attempt to influence the legal proceedings of his case, ignoring the psychological and health damages that such incitement could cause to the inmate.

The prison management confirmed that inmate (M.Z.) receives the necessary medical care and enjoys all of his legal rights, including family visits, communication with his lawyer, and correspondence with his relatives, warning the parties exploiting his case against “continuing irresponsible and unethical practices.”
