The death toll from the collapse of two residential buildings in the Al-Mustaqbal neighborhood of the urban area in Fes has risen to 22, as rescue teams continue to recover bodies from the rubble.

Local authorities in Fes announced an initial toll this morning of 20 dead and 16 injured with varying degrees of severity, following the collapse of two adjacent four-story buildings housing eight families on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, December 9-10, 2025.

Upon receiving the notification, local authorities, the national police, and civil protection services rushed to the scene to initiate search and rescue operations. A number of precautionary measures were implemented, including securing the vicinity of the collapsed site and evacuating residents from nearby homes to protect them from any potential additional hazards.

Injured individuals were transported to the university hospital in Fes for necessary examinations and treatment, while rescue teams continued their efforts to search for missing persons who may still be under the debris, with extensive mobilization from various involved sectors.
