Morocco and Burkina Faso Celebrate Sixty Years of Diplomatic Cooperation and Development Partnership

Morocco and Burkina Faso celebrated yesterday, Wednesday, the sixtieth anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries in an official ceremony held in Ouagadougou, attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabé Nationals Abroad, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, and his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

The event was marked by a significant political warmth and symbolism, representing a “diamond jubilee” of a long history of cooperation built on mutual respect and strengthened human and economic ties over the decades.

In his speech, the Burkinabé minister highlighted what he described as the “practical value” of this cooperation, explaining that the partnership with Morocco has gone beyond mere diplomatic statements to tangible projects that directly impact citizens’ lives, whether through training frameworks, supporting institutional infrastructures, or preparing youth for future professions.

He emphasized that a large number of Burkinabé students and professionals benefit from advanced training programs in Morocco in strategic sectors, which, according to him, provides a “real boost to the development path” in his country.

The sixtieth celebration, according to diplomatic sources, served as an opportunity to renew the mutual commitment to continue building on this legacy and deepen cooperation in new areas, in line with regional transformations, while supporting stability and development in West Africa and the Sahel region.
