Konami Named Official Video Game Sponsor for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and 2027
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Japanese company Konami, a global leader in interactive entertainment, have announced a new partnership agreement that designates Konami as the official video game sponsor for the Africa Cup of Nations tournaments to be held in 2025 and 2027.
Under this agreement, Konami will secure exclusive rights to redesign and represent the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON within its renowned eFootball™ series, enhancing the African tournament’s presence on the global digital stage and allowing millions of gaming enthusiasts to enjoy a realistic and innovative experience.
Veron Mosengo-Omba, CAF’s Secretary General, stated that the upcoming tournament to be hosted by Morocco in 2025 will be among the most followed and exciting editions. He noted that the partnership with Konami embodies CAF’s commitment to innovation, enhancing fan engagement, and creating new opportunities for African youth in football and the digital space.
This move represents a key milestone in CAF’s digital transformation strategy, contributing to enhancing the fan experience and advancing football development projects across the continent.
Koji Kobayashi, Executive Officer at Konami, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, confirming it will open new horizons for gaming fans around the world. He stated that bringing the passion of African football—home to some of the strongest national teams globally—into the eFootball™ game will be a significant enhancement, emphasizing that including new African stars and continental tournament licenses will increase the game’s realism and excitement.
It is worth noting that the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco 2025 will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, with expectations of record viewership both within the continent and beyond.
