Details of Lajji’s Anger After the Draw Against Mali That Paved the Way for the Lions’ Victory Over Zambia
The Moroccan national team’s draw against Mali did not go unnoticed within the “Atlas Lions” camp, amid widespread criticism of the team’s overall performance and many questions regarding their technical and mental readiness ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco.
Informed sources told Express TV that Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s level in the match against Mali, considering the draw an unacceptable setback given the available resources and declared ambitions.
According to the same sources, Lekjaa ensured his presence at the national team’s camp immediately after the Mali match. He attended all training sessions and directed strong motivational messages to the players and coaching staff in an effort to boost morale and correct the course ahead of crucial competitions.
The sources added that the president held direct meetings with the coaching staff, stressing the necessity of taking full responsibility and not disappointing Moroccan fans who passionately follow the team and expect performances that meet their aspirations.
This initiative was met with a positive reaction on the pitch, as the Moroccan national team achieved a well-deserved victory over Zambia on Monday, winning 3-0 in their final group stage match, thereby securing their qualification for the Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025. In this match, the “Atlas Lions” showcased a different lineup and playing style, reflecting a clear desire to turn the page on their earlier setbacks and return strongly to winning ways.
