Fifty Artists Showcase Their Works in Settat
Settat hosted the 21st edition of the International Visual Arts Festival “Imprints” on Saturday, under the theme “Fifty Years, Fifty Artists,” featuring the participation of fifty artists in the fields of visual arts and music.
This international artistic gathering, organized by the Imprints Association for Visual Arts until December 23, with support from the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, highlights over one hundred paintings and artworks.
The opening ceremony saw a significant presence of various Moroccan artists from different artistic and creative fields, alongside honoring distinguished artistic figures for their exceptional contributions to the art scene.
On this occasion, visual artist and president of the Imprints Association, Rabiaa Chahed, stated in an interview with the Moroccan News Agency that this year’s edition represents the culmination of a full year of continuous work, emphasizing its exceptional character coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of the Green March, carrying deep national symbolism.
Ms. Chahed explained that this edition brings together multiple artistic and cultural expressions, including visual arts, sculpture, and music, pointing out that the festival showcases a range of artistic directions and styles that reflect the cultural identity of Settat, while also being open to broader artistic experiences at both national and international levels.
Artist Hassan El Fad expressed his delight in participating in this gathering, considering it an opportunity to observe the level of development in artistic experiences, given the variety of artworks and aesthetic worlds presented.
He explained that the exhibition serves as a chance to reconnect with visual expression and offers an opportunity to meet artists and friends, noting that each displayed artwork demands a unique interpretation; some pieces appeal to the emotions and encourage expression, while others prompt silence and reflection.
Similarly, artist Fatna Shaanan mentioned that she is participating in this edition with two paintings, clarifying that her artworks are largely inspired by Moroccan cultural heritage through the use of symbols and Amazigh jewelry.
She highlighted that these symbols are not merely decorations but carry profound meanings reflecting Moroccan history, culture, and African dimensions, asserting that the exhibition serves as a space for exchanging expertise and cultural experiences among artists from different countries.
Central African artist Zengas Fosta also expressed his happiness to be part of this gathering, which brings together artists from various backgrounds and perspectives. He noted that such diversity allows artists to discover new methods and share experiences.
The program for this edition includes group exhibitions, creative workshops for the youth, alongside intellectual seminars and masterclasses, as well as musical performances aimed at enhancing cultural dialogue and bringing visual arts closer to the audience.
