The management of Al-Arjat 1 local prison denies the entry of inmate (M.Z) into a hunger strike (clarification statement)

The administration of the local prison in Larjat 1 has denied that inmate (M.Z) has entered into a hunger strike.

In a response to a statement issued by the inmate’s family, which claimed that “the individual has entered into a hunger strike in protest against the continuation of his detention after completing his sentence,” the administration clarified that the inmate in question is consuming his meals normally.

The administration emphasized in a clarifying statement that inmate (M.Z) has not submitted any notification to the prison management regarding a hunger strike, adding that “all allegations made in his family’s statement are untrue.”

The same source indicated that the statements made by the inmate’s son, who is also his lawyer, about the alleged hunger strike are misleading and could lead to severe health consequences for the inmate.

It was noted that the individual in question had previously attempted to dissuade his father from ending a hunger strike he initiated on February 15, 2024, for 24 hours, to the extent of shouting at him to discourage him from doing so. This behavior reaffirms his unethical attempts to mislead public opinion, even if it requires pushing his imprisoned father to harm himself.
