Errors in Refereeing Eliminate the Moroccan Team from the U17 World Cup Against Brazil
The Moroccan U17 national team exited the World Cup after losing to their Brazilian counterparts 2-1, in a match overshadowed by controversial refereeing decisions that sparked significant debate and frustration in sports circles.
Honestly, it didn’t take long for the young players to find themselves denied a clear penalty after a foul in the box, yet the referee chose to completely ignore the incident. This was followed by other missed calls that significantly impacted the Moroccan team’s performance from the outset.
The Brazilian team took the lead in the 16th minute from their first serious attack, when player Deyl converted a cross into the net. Ziyad Baha managed to equalize in the 45+4th minute from a penalty, restoring hope for the Moroccan side before the end of the first half.
However, in the dying moments of the match, Deyl took advantage of a fatal defensive error to score the winning goal in the 90+5th minute, sealing the qualification for Brazil and sending Nabil Baha’s squad home despite their fighting spirit and high morale.
Brazil will face Portugal in the semifinals, having defeated Switzerland 2-0.
