In the first session of the consultative meetings aimed at preparing an integrated territorial development program for the province of Qalaat Sraghna, the Governor, His Excellency Mr. Samir Elyzidi, presided over an important session held this morning at the Cultural House in Sidi Rahal. The session was attended by the Secretary-General of the province, Mr. Mohamed Lahbib, several heads of external departments, elected officials, civil society representatives, and citizens from various demographics.

The meeting, which brought together six local communities—Tamalalt, Sidi Rahal, Jbel, Zbaran East, and Zbaran West—was a notable participatory democratic moment. It provided an opportunity to discuss local development priorities and to address the challenges and constraints hindering equitable and sustainable development in this area of the province.

In his introductory speech, the governor emphasized the significance of these meetings in shaping a comprehensive development program that meets the expectations of the residents and considers the specificities of each local community. He called for increased coordination among various stakeholders and collective brainstorming on realistic projects that would translate royal directives into tangible initiatives, enhancing the region and improving the quality of life.

The session featured diverse contributions from elected representatives and civil society members, who praised this initiative and expressed their desire to actively participate in this open development workshop. They proposed suggestions concerning infrastructure, health, education, employment, and access to clean drinking water.

This strong start confirms the seriousness of the approach adopted by the governor, which places dialogue and listening at the core of local policy development, aiming to create a development program that reflects citizens’ needs and establishes a new phase of spatial governance.
