Official Announcement of the Establishment of the “Moroccan Association for the Voice of Women in Justice” to Support Women in the Notarial Profession
The Moroccan professional landscape has witnessed a significant step to enhance the role of women in the notarial sector with the official announcement of the establishment of the “Moroccan Association for the Voice of Women in Justice.” This national non-governmental organization aims to support women in this ancient profession and to develop their active participation in professional and community life.
This initiative reflects the rich history of the notarial profession in Morocco, which has its roots since the arrival of Islam in the kingdom. From its inception, it has been closely associated with the royal institution, preserving rights, transactions, honor, and ancestry, and has accompanied the kingdom’s history in documenting the allegiance of kings and sultans.
In this context, the announcement emphasizes that empowering Moroccan women to enter this noble profession represents recognition of their vital role in national development and supports the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to enhance women’s participation across all political, economic, social, and cultural fields, and to establish the principle of parity and equality.
The association, which held its founding general assembly on February 5, 2024, and selected Rabat as its headquarters, is based on several key objectives, including strengthening ties among women in the notarial profession, enabling them to keep up with professional developments, enhancing their civic participation in development, and elevating their professional capabilities.
The association seeks to achieve these goals by organizing scientific seminars and training courses, forming partnerships and agreements with national and international institutions, benefiting from experts and competencies, and publishing specialized materials, in addition to engaging with the media and creating a website for the association.
The founding body of the association includes Dr. Nadia Charkawi as President, Dr. Zainab Abdel Wafi as Vice President, Ms. Rashida Wazeen as General Secretary, Ms. Sakina Ben Ghazi as Treasurer, Ms. Safia El-Makki as Deputy Treasurer, Dr. Atika Al-Faris as Advisor, and Ms. Aisha Belhassan as Advisor.
The establishment of this association reflects the commitment of Moroccan women in the notarial profession to collective action to strengthen their professional presence, amplify the voice of women in justice in public discussions concerning the profession, and actively contribute to the sustainable development journey led by Morocco.
