Morocco Boosts Rural Tourism in Rahmouna Through Strategic Partnership with the Ministry of Tourism

In line with the activation of the national tourism plan focused on developing rural tourism and diversifying destinations, a partnership agreement was signed today in the Rahmouna region. The event was attended by Fatima Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Tourism, Traditional Industry, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Aziz Bouhayan, the Governor of Rahmouna, and Imad Barqad, the Director General of the Moroccan Tourism Development Company (SMIT).

The minister explained that the shared goal is to enhance the region’s tourism offerings and provide unique experiences, contributing to increased tourism activity and achieving a tangible economic and social impact. This partnership aims to create more job opportunities and attract private investments.

The partnership is based on two main pillars. The first concerns enhancing the existing natural and rural tourism offerings by establishing thematic tourist routes, implementing communication and guidance mechanisms for tourists, and supporting unclassified accommodation facilities in obtaining official classification.

The second pillar focuses on establishing a new system for tourism activities and services, enabling Rahmouna to transform into an integrated tourist destination. The region’s natural features allow for various experiences, such as 4×4 trips, exploring village life, stargazing, and observing Dorcas gazelles in the Jbilat Nature Reserve. Additionally, a diverse range of accommodation options will be available, including stone houses, local community stays, and bubble domes for enjoying the starry sky.

In a related context, the hot air balloon project in the nearby Brous commune presents a significant development opportunity, having signed a special agreement to exploit its full tourism potential.

This partnership reflects the commitment of the ministry and the Rahmouna region to develop innovative, sustainable rural tourism that generates jobs and investments, enhancing the region’s attractiveness on both national and international levels.
