Morocco is preparing to welcome its first shipment of train tracks designated for the high-speed train project connecting Kenitra and Marrakech. This move reflects the kingdom’s ongoing commitment to accelerate the development of its rail infrastructure and achieve its goals for expanding the high-speed rail network by 2030.

The shipment includes thousands of steel rails, each measuring 36 meters in length, which were loaded last weekend at the Yingkou Port in the Bayuquan region of China before making their way by sea to Moroccan ports.

According to Chinese media reports, monitoring services at the Bayuquan station facilitated the loading of the ship, allowing it to depart without any delays, thanks to modern procedures implemented by port authorities, including a pre-booking system, enhanced work teams, and real-time communication, which improved the efficiency of monitoring and customs clearance operations.

Liu Yankai, the head of the station’s service team, confirmed that the developed procedures such as “contactless approval” and “digital clearance” significantly sped up the process and notably reduced waiting times, as well as lowered operational costs.

On another note, the same sources indicated that the size of the shipment and the complexity of loading operations necessitated enhanced patrols and remote monitoring to ensure the safety of the ship’s movement within the port, along with periodic safety instructions during the process.

The captain of the Chinese ship, Wei Jiangang, praised the level of coordination that enabled the timely completion of the loading operation, affirming that the task was successfully accomplished despite its challenges and time pressure, thanks to the strong support provided by border monitoring services and port stations.
