Increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.1% in Morocco

The High Commission for Planning has reported that the consumer price index increased by 0.1% in October 2025 compared to the same month last year.

In its news release regarding the consumer price index for October, the commission explained that this rise resulted from a 0.3% drop in food prices, alongside a 0.4% rise in non-food prices.

The same source noted that the changes in non-food prices varied, with a decrease of 1.9% for “transport” and an increase of 2.4% for “restaurants and hotels.”

In October, the consumer price index recorded a 0.6% decrease compared to the previous month. This decline was due to a 1.3% drop in food prices, while non-food prices remained stable.

The decreases in food prices observed between September and October 2025 particularly affected “oils and fats” by 3.7%, “meat” by 2.8%, “vegetables” by 1.4%, “fish and seafood” by 1.3%, “fruits” by 0.9%, and “milk, cheese, and eggs” by 0.2%.

On the other hand, prices for “coffee, tea, and cocoa” increased by 0.2%. Regarding non-food items, a decrease was particularly noted in “fuels” by 0.6%.

The index recorded the most significant declines in Al Hoceima by 1.5%, in Settat and Essaouira by 1%, in Tetouan and Beni Mellal by 0.9%, in Agadir and Marrakech by 0.8%, in Tangier by 0.7%, and in Casablanca, Fez, Dakhla, and Guelmim by 0.6%. An increase of 0.2% was recorded in Kenitra.
