Essaouira Hosts Local Competition for the Mohammed VI Prize in Quran Memorization and Recitation

The Regional Delegation of Islamic Affairs in Essaouira, in coordination with the local scientific council of the region, announced the organization of the local qualifying competition for the Mohammed VI National Prize in Quran Memorization and Recitation for the year 1447 AH. The event will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Arkana Mosque in Essaouira, starting at 10:00 AM.

This competition targets Moroccan citizens residing within the jurisdiction of the delegate’s authority, or students studying in educational institutions within the same area, aged between 7 and 40 years. Candidates must not have previously won first place in any category of the final competition, unless they are competing in another category. The competition will be conducted according to the Warsh recitation method from Nafi’ through the Azraq route.

The competition branches are distributed as follows:

  1. Quran Memorization and Recitation.
  2. Quran Recitation in the Moroccan style, with a minimum of five Juz’ memorized.
  3. Quran Recitation in the Eastern style, with a minimum of five Juz’ memorized.

The delegation has set Friday, December 5, 2025, as the deadline for submitting applications, which must include: a written request indicating the branch of participation, a candidate information sheet, three copies of the national ID or birth certificate, and two recent photographs.
