Bensaïd Represents King Mohammed VI at the Opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo

Yesterday evening, the Grand Egyptian Museum was inaugurated in the capital, Cairo, at a grand official ceremony attended by delegations from 79 countries, including Morocco, represented by Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd, on behalf of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The event saw the presence of 39 delegations led by kings, princes, and heads of state and government, along with prominent figures from regional and international organizations and global companies, including the Moroccan ambassador to Cairo, Mohamed Ait Ali.

The opening ceremony featured stunning holographic displays showcasing symbols from Pharaonic civilization, including the mask of King Tutankhamun and his golden sarcophagus, concluding with a multilingual artistic segment that conveyed a message advocating for peace among nations.

The Grand Egyptian Museum, spanning nearly half a million square meters, is the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. It houses over 100,000 artifacts documenting Egypt’s history from ancient times to the Greco-Roman era, utilizing modern display techniques that combine smart lighting and digital interactivity.

Morocco’s participation in this global cultural event reflects the depth of historical relations between Rabat and Cairo, as well as the two kingdoms’ commitment to enhancing cultural cooperation within a shared Arab and African space.
