79 Universities Engaged in Strengthening Quality Culture in Higher Education
Morocco continues its determined steps towards building a university system based on excellence and quality assurance, as part of a national vision aimed at elevating the standards of higher education and scientific research to international levels. In this context, the National Agency for Assessment and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Scientific Research (ANEAQ) has announced its support for 79 universities within a comprehensive program to establish a culture of quality and enhance self-evaluation and continuous development mechanisms.
This initiative is part of the national quality assurance strategy, which relies on a national assessment framework developed in collaboration with European experts. The framework aims to improve university governance, ensure course relevance to labor market demands, and enhance scientific research, focusing on community service as a core pillar of the university mission.
The agency’s involvement goes beyond theoretical aspects or administrative declarations, adopting a practical approach that includes self-assessment of institutions, external technical support, and the establishment of quality management systems within universities. This dynamic aims to create a mutual commitment between the agency and universities, making quality a sustainable institutional culture rather than a temporary obligation.
This path comes at a pivotal moment where Moroccan higher education is witnessing significant transformations, aiming to enhance the appeal of national universities, improve graduates’ employability, and stimulate innovation and applied research as a lever for economic and social development.
The engagement of 79 universities in this project represents a qualitative step towards achieving academic and structural excellence, positioning quality as a central criterion in building the future of Moroccan universities and strengthening their role as a key player in national and regional development.
