The spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Rashid Khalfi, stated in an interview with Channel Two that the field conditions experienced in various cities last night were notably stable, as the protests took place in a peaceful and civil atmosphere without any reports of violence or vandalism, aside from some isolated incidents.
Khalfi explained that public authorities closely monitored these movements with vigilance and responsibility, ensuring a balance between maintaining public order and guaranteeing rights and freedoms. He noted that the peaceful nature of these protests contrasted with some vandalistic events that occurred in other cities over the past two nights, which he described as “criminal,” pointing out that 70% of those involved were minors, with some cases reaching 100%.
The spokesperson emphasized the vital role of families in guiding their children and keeping them engaged, stating that parental involvement was crucial in reducing the recurrence of such actions. He urged parents to take responsibility for monitoring their children’s behavior and encourage them not to engage in activities that are punishable by law.
Regarding the misinformation accompanying these events, Khalfi revealed that certain parties sought to spread misleading information and fabricated videos, including claims about the closure of schools and roads in Casablanca, affirming that these reports were unfounded and that local authorities quickly refuted them.
He also stressed that any information regarding public life should be obtained exclusively from official channels, whether through announcements from public authorities or clarifications provided by officials through the media. He concluded by acknowledging the national media’s role in objectively covering the events since day one, considering that they contributed to enhancing transparency and informing citizens about the facts.
